Over a year ago a customer came to me with a crazy idea. He wanted to recreate a Yeti FRO but with modern parts, disc brakes, and a drop bar. The components were already available on a Specialized bike with AXS shifting, a dropper post, and a suspension fork. The plan was to transfer everything onto a new frame.
But who builds a frame like that? Here in Europe, even better in Switzerland, the options are limited. But there is one guy in Bern who once had the courage to weld a Yeti C26 replica. And we were lucky — @revlrevlcycles agreed, and one thing led to another.
In the meantime the 13 speed Red groupset was released, as well as the Manitou suspension fork. And when 40 mm internal width rims became a topic, Reto even had to modify the rear triangle again. More and more new parts were ordered, but at least the dropper post was still used.
At some point @revlrevlcycles made a funny remark to Reto, saying it was amusing because he was working on a similar project for @jekerhiggi — he was building a Reti Ultirevl. Independently, the two had come up with the same idea.
Now both bikes are finished and it was clear they had to meet.
A funny story
